Direct Access Democracy uses technology to empower the constituent to be the final authority. Issues pending shall be posted and available for review by the populace.They shall be allowed to participate in representative held referendums on each and every issue. If a quorum of registered voters is reached on any one referendum then that would become the representative's responsibility to cast their ballot as such. This direct democracy model works within any system of representative democracy without any constitutional changes. It can be utilized by any representative elected to any governing body. Why have democracy later when we can create democracy now?
Direct Access Democracy
The core democratic values of the platform are based on the Swiss democracy model. It does contain the intent of the Swiss Referendum system but assumes that the constitution of the system requires that the representative take responsibility for imposing the pure democratic model onto the process. This democratic platform is based on the democratic candidate holding the initiative and referendum process if and when elected. As such it is unique to direct democracy proposals. Therefore it is called Direct Access Democracy. How it differs is simple. Most other democratic processes that aim to empower the populace with the final authority see the problem as a top down solution. Where the established constitution grants the right of the populace to participation by way of Citizen Initiated referendums and brake(veto) referendums initiated through petition. The Direct Access Democracy model attempts to bring direct access to the decision making process. Any representative can initiate such a process. The representative acts not only on behalf of the constituents but with their participation. Only when the populace decides not to participate does the decision making authority revert back to the sole discretion of the representative.
