A THEOLOGICAL FALLACY: Jesus never publicly declared Himself The Messiah - The Son of God. This is incorrect. He did so many times.
"THE SON OF MAN:
Some theologians believe Jesus never declared Himself the Messiah, Son of God. He did specifically, one particular time before the High Priest Ciaphas; and, of course, before Peter and the Apostles upon Peter's declaration of Jesus as the Messiah.
More Importantly, Jesus repeatedly referred to Himself as the SON OF MAN. The SON OF MAN [although a similar tern is used in Daniel] was terminology mainly utilized by many "Pagan Mystery Religions" for the 'CRISTOS' (the chosen, or anointed one, the savoir who was to come to save the world). Yes, pagans were waiting for a Savior, also. God loves all men; not just Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Incredibly, some pagan religions actually believed in One Supreme Being as God.(See: Emperor Marcus Aurelius's writings for examples); and, the gods as beings from the heavens; not Heaven.
When Jesus constantly referred to Himself as THE SON OF MAN ,He was declaring Himself the CRISTOS , who the Jews called the Messiah. This was lost on His Jewish followers who wondered why He used the Title. But, not on the pagans. This is why St. Paul gave Jesus the Last Name of ''The Christ"- The CRISTOS. Hence, Jesus' last name Christ. You can see why the title is 'The Passion Of The Christ.'"

A GOD OF FEAR OR LOVE?
